Last night after a lovely dinner, I dragged my husband to see the Garland of Roses being created. It was something that I had always wanted to do. The Garland of Roses is a Derby tradition. It consists of 400 Freedom Roses hand sewn into green satin with the seal of the Commonwealth. There is a single rose in the "Crown" pointing upwards that symbolizes the heart and struggle necessary to make it to the winner's circle. It's pretty awesome. Kroger was packed and we had to stand in line for over 20 minutes to get an up close view of the garland. But it was worth it, not only was it beautiful, my husband actually enjoyed himself. Go Baby Go!
